SOREM and SOSWS

SO-Vitals, also known more precisely as SOREM and SOSWS, are a phenomenon where vitals, which usually only occur after 25 minutes of sleep, are moved to the sleep onset (SO) instead.

This is part of the repartitioning process, where cores are internally rearranged and naps are made effective for getting vitals. Unlike the default state where the body assumes all sleep to be cores, repartitioned sleep on a schedule with naps will have REM and/or SWS right after sleep onset, allowing them to happen in short 20 minute naps.

Originally, SO-vitals happen as a result of extreme sleep deprivation leading the body to drastically prioritize vitals over light-sleep due to extreme sleep pressure.
