Light sleep compression

LS-Compression (often just called compression) refers to the reduction of light sleep with no change in cycle length. Cycle compression (confusingly, ALSO often just called compression) refers to the change in cycle length.

Light sleep compression is part of the adaptation process of most reducing schedules. Here, the amount of light-sleep per core cycle reduces and makes space for more vitals. This results in a higher sleep quality (Vitals%) and thus a lowered TST requirement.

LS-Compression is usually the result of SO-Vitals caused by a rebound.

Feeling

Together with deepening, light sleep compression is one of the factors influencing subjective feeling of sleep length, where a nap containing more vitals can even feel significantly longer than the actual time the nap took in reality.
